The English Toy Spaniel is a sturdy and small spaniel with a deep black pug nose with open nostrils. It has a defined stop, and its skull is dome-shaped. The teeth are slightly undershot. The English Toy Spaniel has round large and dark eyes. The English Toy Spaniel’s has a sweet expression. The English Toy Spaniel’s ears are long and feathered. The ears hang along the cheeks. The coat of an English Toy Spaniel is soft, silky and well feathered. It comes in four colors which are King Charles (black and tan), Ruby (solid red and sometimes with a few streaks of white hair or a white patch on the chest), Blenheim (with red markings, or a red “thumb print” centered on the forehead), and Prince Charles (tri color, consisting of white with black and tan markings. The tail is usually docked.

The origin of the English Toy Spaniel traces back to Asian spaniels. The breed was primarily developed in the British Isles. The breed is the darling of the British royalty. There are various types of Spaniels. An example of a type of English Spaniel is the English Toy Spaniel which is also the King Charles Spaniel. This type was named for King Charles II of England who had a lot of dogs. It was during the nineteenth century that the English Toy Spaniel underwent numerous changes. He was bred smaller than the original size. They then had flattened, protruding eyes, upturned face and a more rounded skull. With those changes, that is what we see as English Toy Spaniels nowadays.

The English Toy Spaniel is sweet and affectionate. They are gentle, cheerful and playful. However, sometimes they can get timid. The English Toy Spaniel will be sociable to those who approach them in a loving manner. The breed is very well-behaved and clever. It is however a tad bit willful at certain times. They are often quiet and non-demanding. The needs of an English Toy Spaniel need to be addressed gently. The English Toy Spaniel is amiable to other dogs. More importantly, they need to be around a lot of people. They are sociable with all children but specifically with older children. The English Toy Spaniel is fairly an average barker. Health Issues

The English Toy Spaniel has a tendency to have heart disease (MVD), slipped stifle, respiratory ailments, respiratory ailments, ear infections, and eye problems. Because of the short muzzle, the English Toy Spaniel may have difficulty breathing if it’s too hot or even because of too many activities.
