Hurricane Preparedness For Pets!

August 26th, 2011 by Dan

With Hurricane Irene bearing down on the East Coast, we want to make sure you and your pets are ready for whatever comes in the next few days! Take a look at our post on what should be in your pet first aid kit, and make sure you account for all the 4-legged creatures in your house when you’re stocking up on food and bottled water! If you need to evacuate – DO NOT leave your pets in your home! Make sure you take them with you to ride out the storm together.

*Special Disaster Tip
: Keep a photo of you and your pet together – not only does this help with identifying your pet if he or she becomes lost, but it also will assist you in claiming your pet if there are any disputes over the matter!

Visit the Humane Society’s website and FEMA’s site for more information on Disaster planning for pets.
