Behind The Scenes at the 135th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show – Day 1

February 15th, 2011 by Dan

While most people only get to see the few hours of televised coverage of Westminster available to the public, the event actually runs all day – from 8am until 11pm! What do all these thousands of dogs do when they’re not competing? They hang out in the benching area and meet their adoring public, take potty breaks (in little cordoned off areas full of wood chips) and prepare for the ring with meticulous grooming sessions.

We’ve found that some of our favorite photo opportunities happen in the benching area and we wanted to share these shots with you. Hopefully it’ll give you a bit of insight into a part of Westminster you don’t get to see at home!
