Dog News: John Travolta’s Dogs Killed In Airport Accident

May 18th, 2010 by Dan

Two small dogs belonging to John Travolta were struck and killed by a service vehicle at the Bangor, Maine airport last week. The tragic event happened after a plane carrying Travolta and his family landed and an assistant deplaned with the dogs to walk them. The city later released this statement about the incident: “An airport service pickup truck was approaching the airplane to service the airplane and did not see the dogs. Unfortunately, the dogs were struck and killed. The airport is investigating the accident. Out of respect for the family’s privacy the city will make no further comment.”

The emotional roller coaster the family has been riding continues – their 16-year-old son, Jett, died last year in the after suffering a seizure. In happier news, today Travolta and his wife, Kelly Preston announced that they are expecting a child.

This horrible event only goes to show that accidents can happen *whenever* pets travel and the utmost care must be taken to assure their safety. While it seems this is was “freak” occurrence, often home is the most secure place for your pets!
