Dog News: Hero Boxer Mix Shot During Home Invasion

December 18th, 2009 by Dan

A 5-year-old boxer mix, named Aslan (after the heroic lion in the “Chronicles Of Narnia” series of books), suffered gunshots to the neck, shoulder and leg after 4 assailants broke into his owner’s Hollywood Hills home this past Wednesday. The male member of the household was also struck in the neck with a bullet before Aslan confronted the intruders. The man’s wife and newborn child were unharmed in the attack. The dog reportedly woke up the couple and alerted them to the break in. They believe he saved their lives. The suspects made off with a large amount of money from a safe. They were later arrested.

Aslan suffered a punctured lung and diaphragm, and had to undergo major surgery. His vet, Stephen Bilbrey, at the Animal Specialty Group in Los Angeles, believes he will make a full recovery.
