Great Dane Is “World’s Tallest Dog”

November 13th, 2009 by Dan

Titan, a Great Dane hailing from San Diego, has officially been named “World’s Tallest Dog” by officials from Guinness World Records. The rescued Dane measures 42.25 inches tall (weighing 190 lbs) and owner, Diana Taylor, says he would probably be over 80 inches if he stood on his back legs. However, Titan doesn’t do that because it isn’t good for him. The big dog has a number of health issues, common to white Great Danes. He’s blind, deaf and epileptic. Taylor brings Titan for acupuncture and chiropractic adjustments to help with his medical problems. When he was adopted as a puppy from Middle Tennessee Great Dane Rescue, she was able to teach him with sign language, but now Titan has lost all of his sight so she uses touch to communicate with him.

Titan takes over the title from Gibson, another Great Dane who passed away from Cancer. Titan is actually a few inches taller than Gibson.

Gibson lived in my area and I often saw him at local pet stores getting goodies. So when I was informed of his death I posted about him on my own doggy bloggy. You can check it out at http://pupdandy.blogspot.com/2009/08/rip-local-doggy-celebrity.html

Please feel free to have a looksie!
