Dog News: Woman Impersonates Dog To Frighten Would-Be Burglar
A barking dog can be an excellent home security system, just ask Jack MacLean, the author of “Secrets of a Superthief.” MacLean surveyed over 300 prisoners convicted of burglary or other property crimes about the effectiveness of dogs as a burglary diversion. They were asked “Would dogs scare you away?” 65% said that dogs of good size and unfriendly persuasion would send them on to the next home.

This past Saturday, a woman in Athens, GA, used that statistic to her advantage, however, she didn’t own a dog. Police report that the woman spotted an unknown man trying to turn the doorknob to her house. She reacted by getting down on her hands and knees and acting like a human-sized dog. Although police will not release the exact nature of the dog-like behaviors she mimicked, they did say she scratched at the door. Her tactics were realistic enough to scare the man off. Police were unable to locate him.
