Ask The Dog Guide: Removing “Unfortunate” Smells
Question:
How do I remove dog vomit smell from cloth furniture (Pillows and foam)?
Answer:
As all dog owners know, accidents (of many kinds) do happen! That’s why it’s always good to be prepared with a variety of cleaning tools to take care of any unfortunate lingering scents.

Furniture is a bit harder than floors since it is porous and the odor becomes trapped under the surface. Here are a few options you can try:
* If you’re not worried about bleaching the area (if you have a removable cover) you can lightly dampen the area with a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution. Let that set in for 5 minutes and then blot the area with a clean dry cloth.
* Apply a solution of 2 Tbsp of white vinegar to 1 quart of water to the stain. Let it set for 5-10 minutes. Blot until dry with clean towels. Repeat if needed.
* I personally suggest keeping a bottle of Zero Odor on hand too. This stuff is really fantastic and works on deep set smells. It’s safe to use around animals and a little goes a long way!
Good Luck!
