Fake Service Dogs Cause A Problem For Real Ones

March 11th, 2009 by Dan

Lots of dog owners would love to take their dogs everywhere and while many people reap the amazing benefits of a service animal every day, there are those who don’t need these 4 four footed assistants. Yet I have seen dogs out in public whose owners claim they are service dogs acting in ways that service dogs never should – barking, growling and jumping. I had my doubts about the validity of their claims. Phyllis DeGioia at Pet Connection has written a blog on this issue.

While no one wants to stop people who need service dogs from living their lives, what steps should be taken to control the problem of “impostor” dogs?
