Joe Biden’s New German Shepherd Puppy

December 16th, 2008 by Dan

Vice President Elect has beaten the Obamas in the race for a new canine companion. This past weekend he purchased a 12 week old German Shepherd puppy from a breeder in East Coventry, PA. Biden has owned 3 Shepherds in the past and is a fan of the highly intelligent and loyal breed. His grandchildren will have the honors of naming the pup once it comes home.

While we have heard lots of news about the Obamas plan to adopt the next “First Dog”, it seems the general public didn’t know the Bidens had a similar agreement in effect. Joe and Jill Biden agreed that if they were going to the White House in January, they would also be getting a dog. Jill helped inspire her husband and remind him of the agreement by taping photos of various dogs to the back of the seat in front of him on his plane during the presidential campaign.

In the next few weeks the pup will be housebroken and trained. The pooch will be delivered to Biden after the inauguration.
