Toy Safety Alert!: Four Paws Recalls Dog Toy

September 15th, 2008 by Dan

Four Paws, a manufacturer of pet products has recalled it’s line of “Rough and Rugged Pimple Balls” after injuries have been reported stemming from the toy. The line of toys mostly consists of balls with bells inside, which have a hole in them. The injuries have been sustained when a vacuum is formed by the dogs tongue being caught inside of the hole. For a detailed account of one dogs traumatic story with this toy, see Chai’s Blog. If you click here you can find the statement from Four Paws. The issue with this statement is that the toys in question were not defective – the issue that caused the injury is one of mechanics and design.

IF YOU HAVE ONE OF THESE TOYS IN YOUR HOUSE PLEASE REMOVE IT FROM YOUR PET RIGHT AWAY!

Please remember that only certain toys are safe to be left with your dog when he or she is unattended. You must know your dog and how gentle (or rough) they are with their playthings before allowing them full access to their toy box. Toys are designed with specific purposes (such as fetching, chewing, tugging, etc) and you need to carefully monitor your dogs interaction with his possessions.
