Kids Get a Head Start By Reading To Dogs!
In Orchards, Washington, a program called “Read To Rover” is helping young children improve their reading skills by harnessing the attention of a captive audience - dogs! Volunteer tutors and their canine companions come and lend a hand to students who could use a bit of extra help. The kids are mostly first and second graders and they love the idea of having a non-judgmental, furry face to listen to them.
After doing a bit of research, I discovered there are quite a few programs like this out there. For more information, check out this website!
