Posh California Mall Goes To The Dogs

May 23rd, 2008 by Dan

Welcome to Fashion Island - also known as ” The Dog Mall”. This posh Orange County shopping establishment is home to upscale stores such as Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s and all of them will welcome your Vizsla and your Visa. Because the mall is private property, Orange County property owners are allowed to make decisions about animals being permitted into stores, and the majority of shop owners at Fashion Island decided that permitting pups would be a great business move!

Kathy Jones, the manager of a pet supply store caller “Muttropolis”, located at Fashion Island says, “Dogs have become the new kids.” The mall has facilities where pampered pooches can find the latest in pet couture and even get a massage. The mall even hosted a canine fashion show to introduce a fragrance for dogs. Yes, for dogs.

Even the restaurants in the mall have fallen in line with the dog-friendly vibe of Fashion Island. However most of them only allow dining with dogs outside, and don’t permit dogs to sit on chairs. As much as I love dining out with my own dogs, I have to agree with them about that!
