New California Law Restricts Driving With Pets - On Your Lap!
I think it’s about time! Now other states just need to get with the program and follow California’s example! The state passed Assembly Bill 2233, which reads: “A person shall not drive a motor vehicle while holding a live animal in his or her arm or arms or upon his or her lap.” This doesn’t prevent your dog from riding in the seat next to you, or sitting safely in the back (a much better choice - safely fastened into a doggie seat belt - even better!). The bill was introduced after a pet related accident caused a woman to crash into a utility pole, sending both owner and pet (a cat in this case) to the hospital.
