Adopting Ex-Military Working Dogs!

May 26th, 2008 by Dan

On November 6th, 2000 Congress passed Resolution H.R. 5314, which allows civilians to adopt retiring (or “excess”) military working dogs (or MWD’s). MWD’s have given some great years of their lives serving their country and when they are ready for retirement they deserve to live in the lap of luxury - complete with comfortable beds and games of fetch! When these dogs are set for retirement their handlers get first dibs, then law enforcement and then the general public. For more information on the process check out this site.
