Rescue Profile: Harnessed To Hope - Northern Breed Rescue Inc.
One of the tables I chatted with at the Pet Expo in Reading was Harnessed To Hope, a rescue focused exclusively on Northern Breeds (Primarily Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes and Samoyeds but also working with Norwegian Elkhounds, American Eskimos, Keeshonds, Finnish Spitz and Alaskan Klee Kai). Because of the unique needs of each of these breeds (being working dogs, energetic, escape artists, etc) there is an thorough application process to make sure you are a good fit for one of these intriguing breeds of dogs. Harnessed To Hope is able to house all of their dogs in foster homes until they are adopted into their families.
Each year the Alliance of Northern Breed Rescues (which includes Harnessed To Hope, Delaware Valley Siberian Husky Rescue and MaPaw Siberian Husky Rescue) gets together for a picnic and fund-raising hike called “Hike n’ Howl” - this event is for dogs and their people!
