Coverage of The Westminster Dog Show - Part 1
Last night a little 15 inch Beagle named “K-Run’s Park Me In First” (aka -”Uno” to his friends) took first place in the Hound Group at the prestigious Westminster Dog Show, held at Madison Square Garden in New York City. This is big news to Beagle fanciers, as this breed hasn’t placed first in its group since 1939! “Uno” truly is the “underdog!” Tonight he goes up against the winner of the Terrier Group ( A Sealyham Terrier named “Efbe’s Hidalgo At Goodspice”), the Non-Sporting Group ( A Standard Poodle named “Brighton Minimoto”), the Herding Group (An Australian Shepherd named “Vinelake Collinswood Yablon OA OAJ”) and the yet to be announced winners of the Sporting, Working and Toy Groups, for the title of Best In Show!
Over 2,627 dogs entered the show this year! Included in the 169 breeds were four newly recognized dogs— the Tibetan Mastiff, Beauceron, Swedish Vallhund and Plott.
