The Faces of The Dog Guide – Dan and Lucian

January 24th, 2008 by Dan

Yesterday our staff photographer, Lori (who lives with the adorable Pit Bulls, Bart and Keely) , came over to shoot some photographs of me and my pooches. We were planning on going on a nice walk, but the wet sleeting mess outside made that a very unattractive choice! The shoot started outside but then we quickly moved inside as we knew Reef (the Pit Bull princess), would not stand for being out in that mess! We had to settle for a few shots in the brightest room of the house.

Lucian: Lucian is my 11 month old Dogue De Bordeaux puppy. Yes, puppy. He is about 142 lbs this week and his best friend is Newton the cat. Lucian thumps his tail slowly and steadly as Newton rubs all over his face and jowels. Dogue De Bordeaux are quite drooly when they drink, so Lucian is used to having his face wiped afterwords. He acts like a toddler who doesn’t want to be d up at first, but eventually gives in.

I have a 4 year old male I rescued when he was 1 year old, he is my angel and we refer to him as the horse dog, he is an amazing friend, stubborn as heck, extremely finicky and has issues with being away from me his mom…I have always been a huge lover of large dogs…had rottie’s in the very early 80′s….and my max i must say has to be the best ever! He is quite the challenge and the personality?? oh my,these amazingly ENORMOUS beautiful creatures are a force to be reckoned with….people either adore him or are terrified but he is truly a gentle giant (230 Lbs.) whom I would trust with my life and that of my 5 children….your dogs are beautiful!

We have found rubbing a few drops of Imu oil or castor oil on the elbows of our Bordeaux really keeps the skin soft and the fur is growing back on our 11yr old. female, Kona..~!! Starting Oliver at his young age should help prevent this elbow problem in the future..And yes, the furminator is a great grooming tool for shedding dogs as well.!!
