My Favorite Dog Breeds Part Two

November 11th, 2006 by Micah

In my last post I touched on why I like golden retrievers and why they were my number one favorite dog breed. You will probably be suprised to what dogs I’ve chosen to talk about today.
Mostly because they have a really bad reputation.

One of my favorite questions recently since I came back from Mexico is does everyone have a dog down there? And the magic answer is pretty much.

Yes, I had a dog in Mexico. It was a pitbull. Pitbulls are a great dog to have actually. And they quickly moved into being one of my all time favorite breeds because of the gentleness of Lucky, my Mexican Guard Dog.

They are loyal, good with kids, easy to train, good protectors, and have lots of energy. I lived in a neighborhood that was not so good. Having them around made me feel safe and protected. I also train them to do tricks (roll over, sit, stand, jump). They also go through agility training and weight pulling; these sports get the aggression out of them by using up a lot of energy. I believe this breed has a good temperament. There are those people that give this breed a bad name but you should blame the owner not the dog. I love them and I don’t know what I would do without ‘em.

Interestingly enough they do have a bad reputation. But its mostly owner based. So if you ever get a chance to own a Pit Bull go ahead and do it. Just make sure you raise it carefully. Because if you do you will reap a lot of great rewards. These are definetly great dogs.
